Daughter of a watercolour artist, Federica Zana is following in her father's footsteps. Her passion for watercolour painting on porcelain stems from here.
Since 1987 she has been teaching in her own studio in Crema where she runs courses that provide opportunity to try out various techniques.
Federica's own technique which is realised onto an opaque biscuit-like background is the focal point of seminars and demonstrations .
The inspiration for the designs painted is taken from the Neoclassical and Renaissance periods reproduced from clear photos or old photos in sepia.
Other subjects include watercolour landscapes on a metallic base and transparent underwater scenes which use the classical technique.
Federica is often present at national and international exhibitions in Europe, United States e Brasil.
She has won several prizes including:
1994 Second Prize in the Varese Arts and Trades competition
1995 First Prize in the Varese Arts and Trades in the Figures Category
1996 Third Prize in the AIDIPP International Convention in Como
1998 First Prize in the IPAT-WOCP sponsored Convention in Varese
Some of Federica's works make up part of the Permanent Collections in the Fired Arts sections in both Nova Milanese and Oklahoma City.
Federica teaches often at the Hobbyceram International School giving seminars and demonstrations.
She is a member of the AIDIPP, IPAT, WOCP and PPIO.
